Why do/don't you wear a mask?

I ask this because I've heard a lot of people talk about how they don't wear a mask as much anymore because they're not scared of COVID or because they don't feel like it is severe enough anymore to require such precaution. There are often outbursts from people when denied entry to certain establishments without a mask because they feel like it is an infringement on their freedom.

I personally do not agree with any of that because i think wearing a mask is still important to avoid further mutation and spread of the virus and also to protect people who may not have been able to take the vaccine or those with weakened immunity.

So now I'd like to know why other people do or do not wear a mask.

I have always worn a mask when I was sick, believe it or not. If I had to go out in public or be around people who I didn't want to get sick, I would wear a mask. So when I am not feeling good, even prior to COVID, I'd wear one. That being said I only wear a mask IF I am actually sick. That is where it is most effective. If you are not sick and wearing one and are around people who are sick without them, it does little to nothing to protect you. You are better off standing far away from them and washing from head to toe when you get home. It is hard to avoid germs and viruses, it is easier for someone to take notice they are sick and do what they can to prevent them from spreading, however.

Thank you for your response Debbie! It is great that you've always understood the importance of masking up and keeping those around you safe as and when you can.

That is what I'm trying to understand by asking this question. Masks may be a bit uncomfortable but why are some people so vehemently against them? Thank you for your answer Anthony!
