We often give gifts just for the sake of it but keeping in mind the main spirit of Christmas what do you think would be a thoughtful gift?

Well, I guess this will differ from one person to the other. There is no one-size-fits-all perfect gift. But I would say, if you wish to give someone the best gift, you should first of all try to find out what they really wish for. Find out what will really make them happy. For some, they may not want physical gifts but just your time, a phone call, or spending time together may be all someone needs. It is important to really look into the target person's deeper desires. This can be hard to establish if you don't spend more time together or know them very well.
For instance, parents would prefer you go and spend time with them. That will be perfect as opposed to a boot full of goodies. The most memorable moments and gifts are those that can last forever, like spending time together, taking photos, and just being there for each other. This is what I consider a perfect gift. The physical gifts can just come in to compliment that.

That is a great response. I especially like the part about understanding what a gift would mean to the receiver. You're right in the statement that some people may not want materialistic things at all and might be happier with spending time together. Thank you for your response.

Unless its a birthday, any piece of clothing or accessory is the perfect Christmas gift. In fact, these items fit in best with the festivities of the holidays, as they hold significant value when you wear them. Also, clothing and accessories are the most discounted sales items during the holidays, so they make perfect sense as a Christmas gift.

That is a bit of a life hack too. Buying items on holiday discounts can significantly decrease the amount you would have otherwise spent on the same article. Thank you for your answer.

I honestly don't know. I think that's for the receiver to decide if anything. Some gifts may not be perceived as thoughtful or anything else. Some people will thank you for the gift and be it. But, I think depending on the type of gift, some will find it more thoughtful.
But in terms of my own feelings, I think getting anything I'd like would be thoughtful enough. Just any gift would be nice for me.

I like how you say that just any gift is okay with you. I feel the same way about gifts so that sentiment resounds with me. I personally am just happy to be remembered and to know that someone put their time and energy into trying to make me happy. Thank you for your response.

There is not a single gift I can think of that would work for everyone. What I like to do is get gifts based on interests. When I came struggling with ideas, I will try and pull ideas from asking questions and listening when they say something is broke. Like this year, I got my dad a new pair of wireless headphones since he had broke his pair last month doing house repairs. I know he will be happy.
