I think friendship built to last is one that is built on honesty, trust, and family bonds. If you view a friend as a family member, things are likely to last a long time for you and your friend. I have had many friendships end because we outgrew each other and I never felt these people were part of my family.

It all boils down to trust. Trust is the glue that holds all types of relationships together. Be it platonic or for couples. When you have no reason to mistrust your partner, then your friendship is bound to go far. When you can trust your friend or partner with your life, it basically means that you can do anything for the them and they can do the same in return.
