What great app idea you think needs to be out right now?

1.An app that works as a weather radar for local rainfall

2. An intelligent reminder app that learns your habits

3. An app that creates more hours in the day

4. An app to make an appointment with the doctor

5. An app that knows what you have in your pantry, knows your buying habits and as you walk around the supermarket reminds you what to get off the shelf

6. An app that notifies you when you’re going in the wrong direction but haven’t got navigation turned on

7. An app that permits you to switch off your phone depending on your Geo-position if you request it, e.g. in a cinema or theater

8. An app that learns your habits and recommends activities based on location

9. An app that suggests what kind of dinner you can make with the ingredients that you have in the kitchen

10. An app that notifies you of cheap last minute flights

Personally, my favorite app would be number 3, but I think that app can only exist indirectly. For example, if I could have a really clever personal assistant on my smartphone that would help me with certain tasks, then at least I might save 3 hours doing mundane things and rather spend my time playing with my other apps.

What would be your favorite app?

These are all great app ideas. I think no 3 takes the cake for me. But no 6 and 9 aren't too shabby at all.

Having the right info at the right time and place could without a doubt make our lives more efficient and better-lived with less or no hassles.

I would love to see a sleep saver app. My sleep has been ruined on several occasions because of construction noise from a nearby building or within my building or hotel I’m staying in. The said app will surely warn me well in advance, should the building or hotel I’m staying fail to do so.

All the Apps proposed here depend on the development of the Internet of Things (IoT). Personally, I would like an all in one App, that is smart enough to integrate all the other Apps that I may need and act like a super-administrator for all the Apps. I know it sounds complicated, but we are reaching a place where besides the chat apps, you will rarely use the other myriad apps installed in your phone.

With an App admin, it will install and uninstall Apps smartly based on what you need. It will recommend which App you need and which App can handle the tasks you wish without necessarily installing a new one. Its like a Mega-App. Crazy? Right?! :-)

Tracker App connected to something within a good soccer ball. So tired of lost/stolen balls. We club soccer parents commiserate about this regularly.

An app that detects all types of harassments and report it to law departments. Since, we're going into the era of artificial intelligence  , I think it's pretty much possible. This app can be very helpful in my opinion , since the world is sliding into complete chaos already.

That is a good idea. And will only work when AI will be able to learn and match the human way of thinking. Failure to which, they will end up making false or inaccurate reports. They will have to quickly go through the evidence and compare it with past records (that is what computers are good at). The only part that fails computers is the psychoanalysis. Hard for them to differentiate a friendly slap from a hostile slap.

I'm sure soon we'll have apps to control our house, lights, heating, alarms, tvs. Maybe even baths, showers and that. There is software that does some of this already but within maybe 5-10 years this could be something we all use every day.

I don't really use many apps so it isn't something I ever really followed or thought much on but anytime I did think of an idea, someone had already made an app for it. It will be interesting to see what people think of though in the next 5 years since we are going through another technology boom.
