I was afraid of growing up when I was a child. Every birthday made me feel like I was losing parts of who I was as a person. I understand now that the transient nature of childhood may have contributed to this feeling. I stopped being afraid of growing up in my late teens because I realized that every passing day I became more and more like someone, young Osheen would have liked. I realized that while growth was scary, it was also representative of the agency I had over my own life. The fact that we can really become who ever or whatever we want to be as we grow has make me over come this fear and embrace growth.

I used to be afraid of the dark growing up, but not anymore. I have no idea why I was, but I am glad I was able to overcome that fear.

I was once afraid of spiders so badly that I couldn't be in the same room as one if I had seen it and knew it was in there. I am still not keen on them but I am able to take care of them myself either vacuuming them up or smashing them. I still don't like them by any means but I am not crippled by my fear of them anymore.

I was afraid of going to the dentist because I thought the pain was unbearable. I am not scared anymore.
