As a matter of fact, it can be difficult to overcome any addiction. It has been said that addiction is akin to a warm bed on a very cold day. It's a lot easier to get into and much harder to get out of. The worst thing that can happen to anyone is to allow an attraction to become an addiction.
The first thing you got to do, is to be realistic and determine what impact playing online games has on your life by asking yourself some pertinent questions:
Is my addiction to online games causing me to neglect the more/most important things in my life, like family and friends?
Do I become overly disconcerted, perhaps even more overemotional whenever I cannot play games?
Do I continue to play long after the determined time for me to stop?
If this is you, it's time to make a change.
First off, set a limit—It’s a known fact that too much of anything isn’t good and can be harmful. You should limit the number of hours you spend playing online games and then stick to that limit
Try to set and cement a new habit like going for a walk, light exercise, hanging out with family. etc
Choose the people you hang out with wisely. We tend to become like the people we spend much time with.
If all these don’t help, it’s better to seek help from a qualified mental health professional.
