Has there ever been a time where you work on the holidays? I have worked quite a bit on the holidays myself, but most of the past few years, I've been able to take off time to actually spend with family during the holidays. Do you have to work on the holidays? Were you ever forced to come in to work during the holidays? How did you handle it?

I work during holidays all the time. For my freelance job, this is the time when i get more orders because many freelancers are taking a break during this time. That is an advantage if you can sacrifice your break or delay it for a while. It is usually a busy season and a period when people spend money willingly, so i will always work on holidays and enjoy myself thereafter.

When I was younger, I worked most holidays because I didn't want to be around my family. They always argued and bickered with each other. Since the holidays have become less of a big deal (fewer people coming together) and as I have gotten older, I have learned to appreciate it more and I no longer want to work on holidays.

I think it depends on your profession. For example, if you're a doctor you have to work 24/7 hour. You have to take care of the patient. My Father is a doctor and he works daily even on holidays. Sometimes we get mad at him because due to his profession they give us only a few moments to spend. Once I ask my father why he works on the holidays and he replied "I love helping people and getting rid of them from their diseases.
