I love the idea and concept of green housing but it is so expensive! I looked into what a green home costs and I was blown away. I want to make sure my house (when my husband and I buy one) is more in-line with the environment and not adding to the problem. Are there cheap ways to go about this? I looked into rainwater recycling using gutters so I plan to do that for a start.

You can start small and try to decrease the amount of single use things you have in your house. You can reuse glass jars from sauces and such for storage, try to use kitchen towels instead of paper ones. I will suggest not getting rid of any 'non green' stuff you already have as some people do. The aim is to decrease the amount of waste we generate not to buy more stuff and discard the old.
