Unless you have lived in a cocoon all your life, you have likely known some form of hurt. Hurt can come in the form of a lost love, death, betrayal, and countless other heartbreaking entities. The pain can be a lot to take in. You can feel as though your entire world is turned upside down and there is no way in sight to fix it. However, you must remember that whatever you are going through is only as powerful as you allow it to be. We have the power to overcome struggles, hurt, and pain to move on to a better, more beautiful life. Here are a few tips to help you take back your life and make it beautiful again.
Set Your Boundaries
The past is the past, but sometimes, it can seem as though it is always right in our face. You can get past it, but it will require you to set up boundaries in regard to the past. Make a mental boundary and stick to it. This could be refusing to be around certain people that remind you too much of the past or avoiding a place that triggers negative feelings. It is perfectly fine to eject negative or toxic people from your life and once you have cut those lines, you will feel a sense of relief. Never allow yourself to go beyond the mental boundary you have set.
Learn from Others Who Have Been There
Even if you believe your situation to be unique, there is always someone who has experienced the same struggles. Humans follow specific patterns in life and the same thing can be said of those looking to heal themselves. Take time to examine your individual situation and study those who have already been there. Social media can be a great tool for this. Many people actively share their stories on social media avenues and are available for advice. Surround yourself with those who have moved past their situation and follow their pattern. If one pattern does not work for you, find another, until you find what works for you.
Forgiveness is often easier said than done. We often say we forgive someone without ever allowing it to happen. True forgiveness is a difficult notion. It means you accept what happened and are ready to move past and release the person from your mind. The memories will remain, but when you truly forgive that person, they no longer have power over you. Work to truly forgive the person that has wronged you and even if you never talk to them again, you can release them from your mind.
Do Not Give Up
Significant hurt and pain can bring on feelings of basically ending it all. Suicidal thoughts are very real and unfortunately, has taken some of the best individuals away from a life that could have been amazing. Every person, no matter how insignificant they may feel, is important. Even if you feel alone, you will hurt someone if you commit suicide and even if you believe it will not ultimately matter, a world without you in it will be less of a joy for someone. Giving up on life is no way to take care of the situation. Remember, once you achieve success in moving on, you may become one of the influential individuals you are now seeking for guidance.
Allow the Tears to Come, but Do Not Dwell on the Past
Emotions are very real and deserve respect. Sometimes our emotions can come out of nowhere and fighting back those emotions is not always healthy. Allow tears to come out when they well up, but make a definitive time in your mind where you will stop those tears and pick yourself back up again. Allowing emotions to come out is fine, but you should never allow your emotions to take over completely. Know when to stop crying and get on with life, but also understand that holding emotions in can damage your soul.
Realize Your Strength
As humans, it can be easier to succumb to pain and admit defeat than to realize our own strengths to ultimately overcome life’s uncomfortable situations. The road to recovery is not an easy one. There will be struggles. You will want to wallow in self-pity at times, but these are the times when you need to emphasize your strengths. The biggest strength you have is the fact that you are still here despite your past. You made it through something that could have taken you out. You have the opportunity to change and realizing that ultimate strength is significant in regaining a beautiful life once again.
You can move on. You can do it if you want to. Do not let anyone or anything get in your way during the healing process. Talk to people who have been there and take clues from their achievements to overcome the past in your own life. You can do it. Believe in yourself and go after your beautiful life!
