If you work for someone else, Nope.

However, if you work for yourself, as an entrepreneur, it's perfectly fine to do so. Especially if you're trying hard to immortalize your career or cover the bills.

And yes, putting work first can be fulfilling, especially if you work in the creative industries.

I totally agree, at the infant stages of working for yourself (entrepreneurship), one has to work extra hard in order to realize some results.

However, I slightly disagree with the fact that entrepreneurs & creativity experts should put work first. If well-executed, even when you're working for yourself, you will have the freedom that everybody seeks in self-employment.

Working for yourself should offer you financial freedom as well as time to engage in what matters at will.

There's that saying 'live to work or work to live'  I work to live so I don't put work first. There are things more important in life than work. I never want to be a workaholic but when I am at work I do work hard. Family especially comes first before work.

Never. It is not advisable to ever put your work first.

Simply because if you are working for a company, you can be easily replaced. Sometimes because of burnout. On the other hand, if you are working for yourself, like a freelancer, you may be carried away by working for yourself until you forget other aspects of your life. That brings us down still to burnout.

You must strike a balance between work and life.
