I do think it boils down to what kind of food you eat as against when you actually eat them. I make it a rule never to eat heavy food right before bed as that can increase my caloric intake. I usually go for low-energy food like fresh fruits, vegetables, stew, soup, and sometimes potatoes.

In Ayurveda, they say that you shouldn't eat after seven and right before bed. However, it really depends on what you eat. I think eating sugar or consuming caffeine right before bed might not be an excellent idea. It is also better to not drink much before bed because it disrupts your sleep.

If you have stomach issues, it can be. I tend to stop eating 3 hours before bed. If I stop eating sooner, there is a good chance I will get hungry when I am going to bed which will make it harder for me to fall asleep but if I eat too close to my bedtime, I will get a boost of energy which will also disrupt my sleep.

I would advise not eating before bed often, because let's face it, eating before bed may cause some issues later in the night. Like having to go #2 because you ate so late. I try not to eat too late, as I get a stomach problems doing so. If I can, I try to eat at least 3-4 hours before bed, and nothing sooner.

Well, it is not a good habit to eat right before you go to bed. Because most food will give you energy or activate you and interfere with your sleep. It is recommended to eat a few hours before bedtime to give your body time to digest the good.
