There was a recent video that went viral, that showed the CEO of better help or better announce to a bunch of their employees in a zoom call that they were being let go. This was after they were acquired by a new team and the CEO allegedly made a ton of money as well.
It's sad that anyone gets fired when profits are made. But this seems to be the world we are in these days. Just rich getting richer and employees being kicked to the curb or forced to work long hours.

I noticed this happening a lot on big corporations like Amazon and Walmart. A friend of mine took up working at a Walmart part-time last year for 5 or 6 months just to help supplement her and her husband's income while he was reduced to part-time at home. She spoke with a few managers who said they would frequently just let people go be them lower staff or upper management simply because they don't have anywhere to put them. They overhire to begin with and cut people off at random. I would hate to work my way up in a company for 10 years old to be fired just because.
